16. Freedom of expression
- Everyone has the right to freedom of expression, which includes
- freedom of the press and other media;
- freedom to receive or impart information or ideas;
- freedom of artistic creativity; and
-
academic freedom and freedom of scientific research.
- The right in subsection (1) does not extend to
- propaganda for war;
- incitement of imminent violence; or
- advocacy of hatred that is based on race, ethnicity, gender or religion, and that constitutes incitement to cause harm.
The Freedom Charter preached equality.
This how genocides start. The oppressed can become the oppressor. Then where does it end. There are many injustices that need to be ractifyed but violence should not be the solution to those problems.
The plight of people should not be used as a political tool or means to accumulate material wealth. SA has one of the biggest inequality gaps in the world amongst the rich and poor. This needs to be fixed. I think tertiary education is the key to that. Access to higher learning is very difficult for an average matriculant. We need to teach the culture of self sufficiency and skills development. Government should encourage entrepreneurship and support small business owners. They create jobs in their communities.
The plight of the people should not be used by a few tenderprenuers to enrich themselves.
